Well,that's one great big effing surprise if there ever was one!! A 70+ seats overall majority and Labour's worst result since 1935. Considering that my own best guesses were centred around a small Tory majority or essentially a hung parliament - you can never be too pessimistic when it comes to Election outcomes ;after all where would the overwhelming joy & mood of celebration be in the wake of a really great and unexpected triumph if  you had confidently predicted precisely that beforehand ? exactly; relief is part of joy,the thrill of the ride. Thankfully this is the fifth and final blog post of mine in November on the topic of the General Election . It really is turning out to be as ineluctably otiose as I'd predicted and feared that it might be. Amongst the most prominent of hashtags on twitter this morning for example are :- #bbcimpartiality and #labourlies. And that about sums up the state of play in this more than usually cantankerous campaign. GE 2019 is managing to be even more intellectually indolent than the voters' accustomed expectations of yawning vacuity and cant from all the parties. No policy statement ,issue of genuine public concern or aspiration for the future has escaped being drowned in the deluge of partisan hyperbole and misdirected drivel, the speakers of which were hoping to make sound something akin to statesman-like rhetoric of great import.Which of course none of it is. It's way past time that the entire process underwent a Bonfire of the Shibboleths.

Oh boy... British Prime Minister Johnson reneged conclusively on his earlier solemn promise to actually die in a ditch if his government couldn't deliver Brexit on October 31st and that he wouldn't go back to EU to ask for an extension. The EU have helpfully referred to their grand gesture as  a " flextension " and it is valid until January 31st. 2020, which of course is way past the original deadline of October 31. We are now all hostages being held in a parliamentary purgatory where every conceivable ideological schism is surfacing in all the major parties and there are schisms within schisms. In the round of course, the Remain campaign succeeded ages ago in effectively torpedoing Brexit. October 31st. had better eventuate. We had better Leave the EU on that date. Just when you thought the interminably egregious, otiose cant and vacuous moralistic slogans of the EU funded seditionist Remain aka Peoples Vote campaign couldn’t delve any further into uncharted depths of paranoid delusion… Corporate MSM and other platforms announce that, ” A judge sitting in Scotland’s highest civil court has rejected an interim interdict (injunction) to prevent to the suspension of parliament. Lord Doherty said he believed the full hearing set down for next Friday should be moved forward to Tuesday or Wednesday.” The judicial foray in Edinburgh is contemporaneous with virtually similar legalistic manoeuvres in London and Belfast. Parliament is being prorogued.Only this time, for the first time since Oliver Cromwell ,significant and influential sections of our metropolitan domiciled liberal europhile elite are keen to bring the uneducated masses into the polemical fray by dispensin...

Brexit having sucked virtually all the political debating oxygen out of the UK polity these last few years, has as I’ve posted before, curbed my penchant and enthusiasm for blogging from a previous average of 8 or 9 blog posts per month down to a bare average of 5 such posts per month. And even that has me rummaging around , often in previous years for the really substantive posts on Brexit. Even the predominant themes and issues currently holding sway in the West has been reduced to some kind of near-paranoia concerning The Peoples’ Republic of China and its economic prowess. The current version of Leave / Remain -whatever happens next ,has the UK bidding the 27 adieu on October 31st. Well,the UK has a new Prime Minister and all the usual suspects are making all the usual noises .Just a little over 3 years ago, had Gove not betrayed Johnson's candidature for the leadership then we would have been spared the ReMAYner interregnum,the complete bollox-up of the 2017 General Election and yes,the UK would have left the EU .
